Getting rid of bad odours in wardrobes in Sydney

There are a number of reasons why your wardrobe in Sydney may have developed an unpleasant or a bad odour – these sorts of smells could be caused by mold, mildew and even pet-related stains. The worst thing about these odours is that they can transfer onto clothing, shoes and accessories. Unfortunately, many odour removal subjects only mask the smell when what you really need is to remove it completely.

Step 1: Completely empty your wardrobe and wash them according to the directions on their tags. Make sure that you add a cup of white vinegar to the load before the rinse cycle to help deodorise the clothing.

Step 2: Soak an old cloth in some white vinegar and use it to wipe down the entire wardrobe, inside and out. Focus especially on the doors, walls and shelves, as this is where odours are likely to gather. Leave the area to dry.

Step 3: Take an old plastic container and punch some holes into the lid using a screwdriver. Then, fill the container with activated charcoal and place it inside wardrobes in Sydney for at least 24 hours.

You could also fill an old pair of pantyhose with activated charcoal or baking soda and some cedar chips. Tie the pantyhose closed and hang them inside the wardrobe to remove bad smells.

Step 4: Once the 24 hours have passed, you can remove the container and begin placing all of your items back into the shelves. Make sure that you smell the space and the clothing to check that odors have been removed.

Step 5: Fill some sachets with dried lavender and hang them inside the wardrobe to keep bad smells at bay. You can replace the sachets monthly or whenever you notice that the lavender has lost its potency.

Once you have successfully removed the odour, make sure that you avoid it returning by keeping the doors closed (so that pets can’t get inside) and cleaning up spills immediately.
